All you have to do is decide to tattoo a certain design that you like. You set it, you wait for the perfect moment to get it, and you wait for the perfect client. Tattooing is about creating an aura about your body that makes it seem as if youve been a professional tattoo artist for life.
So far I think the tattooing profession is doing really well. People who are looking to get a tattoo are choosing their own designs, and they’re not having any trouble finding the perfect clients (which is something that every successful tattoo artist has to figure out on their own). For most people, tattooing has become less about the actual art of tattooing and more about finding the perfect tattoo artist. This is good for everyone.
But that said, it seems as if everyone who has gotten a tattoo has at least one thing in common: They don’t want to get a tattoo that will draw undue attention. When a tattoo artist asks, “Would you like a tattoo if you were not looking to get one?” you can imagine the reaction: “Oh god no, I wouldn’t even take a tattoo if I was not looking to get a tattoo.
This is one of the reasons why I love my tattoo artist. He takes the time to make sure I am not only comfortable at the table, but that I am comfortable with the fact that he is tattooing me.
