This is how I think about what I want to do at work. I want to do something that I can’t do at home. I want to be able to do things from my desk at work. I want to be able to do so much more than just sitting in my office.
The best part of the job shop is that you don’t actually need to feel like a part of the team. I would rather have a full team than just a few people sitting at the same table and talking at one table at the same time.
I do feel that a lot of people are afraid to leave their desks at work because they dont want to be seen as having been there all day. What many people don’t realize is that they are actually already there. They are not just the people who are sitting in their chairs at the same time as you. They are actually already there. They have just never been aware of it.
People are often afraid to be seen as busy at work, especially when they don’t really have anything to do there. This is especially true in the case of the people who hold the title of “manager,” the person in charge of the whole operation. There is a fine line between the two, because as managers you should be more involved in the work but at the same time you should still show up and answer the phone.
In many organizations employees will have some sort of job title that they are responsible for, and they will be the one who makes you aware of this. However, the job title should be a reflection of your own self-awareness, not just a label that you need to have to be included in your team. The reason is that when you aren’t busy, you’re a bit more easily distracted, and when you’re busy there’s a possibility you might miss someone at work.
